Can a REALTOR® provide me with current
market information?
Your REALTOR® can provide you
with up-to-date market information, including the price,
financing, and terms and conditions
of competing properties. Market information is helpful
when it comes to getting
your property sold at the right price as quickly
as possible, with minimum hassle.
How will a REALTOR® market and advertise my property?
Your REALTOR® markets your property to other real estate
agents and the public. In many U.S. markets, over 50% of real
estate sales
are cooperative sales. This means that a real estate agent
other than yours brings in the buyer. Your REALTOR® disburses
information about your property to other real estate agents through
a Multiple
Listing Service (MLS) and various other cooperative marketing
networks. The REALTOR® Code of Ethics requires utilization
of these cooperative relationships whenever clients will benefit.
Your REALTOR® will
also use the internet, newspapers, and other media to market
your property to the public.
There is a common misconception that advertising
sells real estate. Studies by the National Association of REALTORS® show
that 82% of real estate sales are the result of agent contacts
through
previous clients, referrals, friends, and family.
Your REALTOR® can also recommend repairs or cosmetic work
that will significantly enhance the salability of your property.
Additionally, when a property is marketed with the help of a REALTOR®,
you do not have to allow strangers into your home. Your REALTOR® will
generally prescreen and accompany qualified prospects through
your property.
